Game Log 2 - Play
Today, we got started on the Play-phase.
We used post-its to brainstorm on directions and themes, and revisited the San-San exhibition for inspiration. We decided to take inspiration from the futuristic, psychedelic vibe, as well as the culture-clash.
We worked on a mood-board, talking about different ideas for the game, such as pixel-art.
We started brainstorming on an idea for a game, where you get assigned to be either a good or a bad person, a rich or a poor person. We want to be provocative, and raise the question of social heritage “Can you change your given path?”
We want to raise the questions “Steal? Distract? Buy? Help?” – This game is not meant to be easy, and what you think is the morally right choice, might not be…
What makes you a good person? Actions, intentions, outcome?
We wanted to continue working on this idea, and started creating storyboards. After starting on the story boards, we dug deeper in this idea, and started brainstorming on scenarios for the game. On the side, we started working on graphics for the game.
Game title: PsyKiosk
Team name: 404 fairness not found
Feedback from expert council:
- “whats fair in an unfair world”
- we were not set in the title and wording so we will definitely use this
- Make the start and the ending at first
- we will start here
- Build one pathway
- We will start by doing one and then take it from there
- “score bar”? (good person)
- Score bar showing official ethics
- “Am i doing well”
- We will try to implement a “good person” bar that might change values in an unfair way.
- More details from the artwork
- We will add some more details from the art work
- Scope down
- We will focus on 2-3 different endpoint and then develop the rest of the story based on them.
- Illusion of choice
- We might some of the choices have the same result
- Rule of law - it’s illegal to steal but is it fair?
